Had a great day out on Ironsides

Chartering Ironsides for a great day out.

What a great experience for me and my friends to be able to go sailing on an original Thames sailing barge. The captain was brilliant and explained about Ironsides barge and it is now 117 years old and built in Essex.

We also managed to sail around the coast line and see birds and wildlife. We helped to crew the barge, learn the traditional skills and also had time to just relax and watch how it’s done. we we got back to the harbour we had time for a few glasses of wine and some food provided by the captain and crew, down below in the beautiful dinning area.

Our sailing season runs from May to September. Our home ports are Faversham and Whitstable in Kent, and St Katharine Docks in London, and we often sail from Maldon in Essex, but we can start or finish trips almost anywhere along the East Coast or in London.
