About Ironsides Sailing Barge

For an amazing day out on the water with the Ironsides Sailing Barge.

Based at the old historic port of Faversham off the swale estuary, We are only 75 minutes from London by train.

 

Ironsides sailing area is the Thames Estuary from Aldeburgh in Suffolk to Whitstable on the North Kent Coast.

We can arrange to start and finish trips from Maldon, Pin Mill, Chatham and of course London.

Whether you want to journey up the Thames, seek wild countryside or visit quiet seaside hamlets we can arrange a trip to suit you. Our guests can participate in working the vessel or simply relax on deck and in the spacious saloon.

Many ports of call are regular including Aldeburgh, Orford, Woodbridge, Harwich, Mistley, Pin Mill and Ipswich. Sailing south the Walton Backwaters are a lovely natural archipelago of saltflats and islands where you can explore creeks and find pirates and then the Colne, we find Rowhedge, Wivenhoe and Brightlingsea. Maldon lies at the head of the unspolit and lovely Blackwater. The Crouch is another area of interest.

Further south across the thames to, Whitstable and the East Swale, Faversham and then to the Medway ports at Rochester and Chatham. The Thames is navigable up to the Pool of London and Tower Bridge. There are many piers where we can arrange to pick up passengers.
